Why?
Allowing registrants on your website, grants you access to their emails. That is a huge win if there ever was one. Besides that, with the right analytics tools you can track this user and determine how BEST to serve them with your products and or services.
..for your paying clients
Your clients can create a record on your website, which they can access. Sometimes they have a query on an order, such as “did I really order it?”. Crazy but it can happen. We always recommend as you shop on any website, first create an account. It acts as your receipt.
…for your store managers or other supporting roles
Review, How to create a User Profile on your website for other supporting roles. As a store owner, you can also allow your shop managers or contributors to register an account on your website. They can log in and access only what you need them to, to get the work done!
Is your website set up for registrations?
If you’re unsure about whether or not this is currently enabled on your website, review your Build Sheet, or drop a quick email to us below. NB: this service will be performed under your cariCare hour allotment.
It would be a lot of work to add each user manually (using the steps above). Instead, you can let visitors create their own account (when they click “Register” or “Login” or “Account”).
To enable or disable this option – you need to go to Settings » General in your website menu and check (or uncheck) the ‘Anyone can register’ box.
Important: If you have not opted for FULL and OPEN access to your website, you will not see this option. In that case, you should contact us to disable this for you (where cdcwebdesign has built your website) under a cariCare plan.
By default, new users will be given the Subscriber role. Go ahead and change this to any role you want – review How to create a User Profile on your website.
Warning: We recommend only letting users register as Subscribers or Contributors. If you let users register as Authors, they could publish a post without approval. Never use Administrator as the default setting, or someone can bar you from accessing your own website.
ONLY persons / teams you trust should be granted Administrator Level access on your website.
